About the My Path Program

We recognize young adults may be dealing with unique challenges. We take an open, tailored, inclusive, and supportive approach to addressing:

  • post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, or anxiety
  • substance use disorders (including opiates or alcohol)
  • process addictions such as gambling, pornography, excessive shopping, gaming, and technology use
  • challenges related to the transition to adulthood, self-esteem and social dynamics
  • conversations about sexuality and/or gender identity, with a supportive environment for 2SLGBTQIA+

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) are used to help reframe thoughts and improve coping skills. Unified Protocol (UP) will support clients to build a greater capacity to tolerate distressing emotions and physical sensations associated with their mental and physical health concerns. These approaches are balanced out by the introduction of recreational and expressive therapies that provide opportunities for stimulating group and individual activities while building a foundation for growth and recovery.

Comprehensive Assessment

The My Path program now offers a comprehensive assessment. This group of tests include the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) and Touchpoint Battery tests. These mandatory screenings help to determine any potential mood disorders, personality disorders, substance use issues and other potential mental health issues. These tests are utilized to ensure the most accurate diagnosis.

These in-depth assessments may also include additional testing for comprehension levels, learning difficulties and cognitive ability which help to identify personality traits and potential personality disorders. All tests inform the comprehensive assessment – a crucial first step to ensure we provide the right support throughout the program and for the client and loved-ones, post-treatment.

Gambling Disorder

Gambling Disorder is a serious but often hidden mental health condition that disproportionately impacts young adult males, particularly those navigating transitions related to independence, finances, identity, and performance pressure. Online betting, sports wagering, and gaming-style gambling have made access easier than ever, increasing the risk of rapid escalation and significant harm. Left untreated, gambling disorder can affect mental health, relationships, academic or career progress, and overall well-being – often co‑occurring with anxiety, depression, or substance use. The My Path program can support young adults in developing emotional regulation, and healthier coping strategies while addressing the underlying drivers of problematic gambling.

Building healthy routines & connections

Isolation is a barrier to growth and recovery – and it worsens addiction and mental health. That’s why fostering connection—with peers, community, and self—is at the heart of the program. Young people are drawn to learn from each other and Ravensview facilitates a unique peer community experience which offers validation and encouragement to engage in recovery and make healthy changes.

Key features of our approach:

  • Peer community: co-learning, validation and encouragement in a unique peer-driven experience
  • Skill development: building healthy relationships and engaging in daily life with newly acquired skills
  • Group sessions: Interaction with peers fosters self-compassion (through relating to others) and social skills
  • Structured routine: balances personal reflection and social engagement
  • Healthy recreation:
leisure activities such as hiking, board games, karaoke, pickleball, basketball, yoga and socializing with peers in communal areas promote having fun in healthy ways

Throughout the program, clients learn strategies and engage in planning to support their recovery after Ravensview. Inpatient treatment is one phase of the recovery journey and clients are supported to grow their ability to engage in healthy social connections and utilize recovery supports to build upon gains achieved in treatment.

  • Sparking joy and new creative interests through activity
  • Fostering flexibility and open-mindedness to counteract rigid thinking patterns and support recovery
  • Encouraging social bonding and skill-building in a creative setting

Healing is in our nature

Ravensview is situated atop a mountain called LÁU,WELNEW (meaning ‘place of refuge’), and is a powerful, healing and sacred space. Ravensview is honoured to walk alongside local W̱SÁNEĆ communities and take part in the centuries-old, local, traditional ways of healing and reclamation that flows through these culturally sacred lands.

  • A Cultural Knowledge Keeper is available to discuss ideas and lessons from the First Nations culture of the Coast Salish people and deliver cultural programming with clients, such as cedar-weaving, beading, and drum-making, that offer an Indigenous lens onto mindfulness and help to strengthen the spirit.
  • A Cultural Liaison maintains a dual role, connecting with the onsite team as well as community members, while also building authentic relationships with Nations across the country. She shares openly about the team and the offerings available so communities can feel empowered in the decisions they make on behalf of their members.
